Since 1996, we have serviced the Mid-Atlantic and beyond as leaders in cold storage solutions.
Our roots can be traced back to the mid-1990s when Josh “Pret” Pretlow and Tom “Buzz” Hofler started Virginia Cold Storage. Suffolk, Virginia has long been ingrained in the history of peanut production and processing for over a century. These two local Suffolk natives recognized the importance of Suffolk as a shipping hub to the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
AgCold recognized the opportunity to continue the legacy of Virginia Cold Storage with the full acquisition and merger of Virginia Cold Storage and Nansemond Cold Storage. The purchase allowed AgCold to combine the resources and continue to provide national and international customers with the high quality service they have come to depend on.
- Handling
Verification of count and condition of product. Additional quality inspection of trucks and products upon arrival. Team of certified forklift operators transport products into our premier cold storage facilities for short or long term storage. - Storage
Refrigerated temperatures from +38° to +45° F. Proper tempering allows the peanuts to equilibrate with the ambient environment without condensation which may result in mold development. - Order Assembly
Retrieval of full pallet or individual cases as specified by customer. Single case picking, stretch wrapping and marking of pallet with shipping ID. - Additional Services
Weight recording, Receiving of product in full pallet quantity and staging for immediate re-shipment, hand-stack Loading- Unloading floor load to palletize or floor loading individual cases, labeling / Stamping per customer specifications, plastic stretch wrapping of palletized product for extra protection while in storage or in transit
